A Beer Belly You Want

Remember when the Camelback first came out? It was all the rage. And of course, every guy's first impulse was to fill it with beer! And, inevitably you were searched trying to get into a football game with your beer-filled Camelback and it lost its usefulness.

What was a guy supposed to do? Hide it under his shirt and look like a hunchback? I think not!

Introducing The Beer Belly! Dude, checkit. This thing is sick. Its like the stealth ninja cousin of the Camelback...and totally 100% designed for boozin!
  • holds 80 oz of liquid
  • custom contoured to fit under your shirt and look like a real beer belly
  • insulated to hold either hot or cold beverages (but why would you want hot beer)
  • bladder equipped with wide-mouth opening for adding ice to your margaritas
If it wasn't totally awesome, I wouldn't post this. As a life-long beer drinker I am finally stoked to put on a beer belly.

(I know I know...you're thinking that only frat boys would resort to this...but secretly, you really want one. Don't be a pussy, indulge your inner frat boy and get yer drink on! I won't judge.)

Rules are Rules

Perhaps you've been following this mess surrounding Phil Mickelson. In case you haven't here it is in a nutshell...

The PGA made a new rule that prohibits the use of certain clubs with a certain groove pattern. However there is a loophole in the rule that allows the use of certain clubs produced before 1990 (Ping Eye 2 Wedges).

The PGA Tour released a statement on Saturday about the grooves, saying, "Leading up to the implementation, we have been aware that under the USGA Rules of Golf, the pre-1990 clubs would be allowed and that there was the potential that some players might choose to use them. We will monitor this situation as we move forward and under our Tournament Regulations, we do have the ability to make a local rule which would not allow the clubs. There's been no decision made at this time."
Phil and 6 other golfers have chosen to use these older clubs...which is completely legal. Now he is under fire from players, fans, the public in general for "cheating".

According to Wikipedia:
Cheating is an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others. Cheating implies the breaking of rules.

Here's the thing...Phil didn't cheat. Neither did the other 6 players using the clubs. This loophole is open to everyone. There was no unfair advantage in play, nobody lied about using the clubs and not a single rule was broken. He is a highly skilled golfer who had the aptitude to read the rule book and find a way to improve his odds. This isn't called "cheating", its called "playing by the rules". Because after-all, rules are rules.

There is a lesson to be learned here: sports are about winning.

KOBE VS.LEBRON, DAYTONA 500

Now that the super bowl is over, what are you going to do with your couch potato Sunday’s?

You could watch the Lakers and Cavaliers. Kobe vs. LeBron. Is it just me?, or is there anyone else out there who thinks that LeBron James is not the player everyone thinks he is. He is talented, yes, better than most in the league, but is he a complete player? NO. He can’t shoot, and in the clutch and under pressure situations he has not proven himself and usually defers the ball to someone else. And please don’t get me started about his defense.

Yes, he does play with an assortment of journeymen and minor players. But does he make them better? Does he turn them into superstars as Jordan did Pippen? Magic did Worthy? Kobe is selfish, moody and an even bigger legend in his own mind than he is on the court. But he is a more complete player than LeBron? Kobe is a superstar among superstars. LeBron is a superstar among mere men. He has not graduated to the Super-Superstar status of Jordan, Kobe, Magic or Bird yet. I do think he will elevate his game to that level.

Right now, he is not there yet. He is still a very young man and is still learning his craft. If he continues to work hard and improve like he has been, then he will become one of the few. Not now though. He hasn’t earned that moniker yet. He is still a Prince James, not a King James.

By the way, next Sunday is the Daytona 500. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, give it a try. You want to see athletes compete, just imagine the skills it takes to drive amongst 43 cars going 200 mph. Think it is easy? Then try the Richard Petty Driving Experience. You might come away with a different answer. I love Nascar. Will Jimmie Johnson repeat as Sprint Cup Champion? Let’s hope Reed Sorenson can get the Richard Petty #43 back in the winner’s circle.

And by the way, USA plays Mexico on Wednesday the 11th in a World Cup Qualifier. I think the USA will beat Mexico badly. This rivalry is becoming one of the best in International Soccer. Until next time, GO #43.

Stu's Sports

Where will you be watching the big futbol game from this Sunday? Any party plans?

The Liverpool-Chelsea game is gonna be huge. It’s the biggest game on tv for the day. Winner stays in the hunt in the chase of Manchester United for the top spot in the Barclays English Premiere League.

What other big game is there this Sunday? Is it just me or am I the only person other than Jim Rome who thinks the Cardinals have a chance? How many of you out there realize that it is only 18 more days til the Daytona 500? This race starts off the 2009 Nascar Sprint Cup season. My home track in Fontana is the following week on February 22nd. Anybody from Southern California going to the race besides me?

What do you think, will David Beckham return to the LA Galaxy as promised sometime in May? Do you really care? Why do I know most of the names of WWE Wrestlers, but could not tell you who the top three boxers are in the world? Why is anyone watching College Basketball on TV? Snoozeville, wake me up in March. Anybody besides me hoping the Yankees fall flat on their overpaid wallets this season? Heres hoping the Tampa Bay Rays aren’t a one time flash in the pan. Stay hungry fellas.

Don’t follow much tennis, but it is good to see a couple of Americans (Serena Williams and Andy Roddick) reaching the semi-finals in the Australian Open. At least I can pronounce their names. Does anyone care about golf since Tiger Woods isn’t actively playing yet? Until next time sports fans.
